In compliance with the provisions of the EU Code on Visas and the EU Code on the Entry and Stay of Aliens and the Right of Asylum, starting from 6th June 2013 the Consular Section of the Embassy of Italy in Pretoria, the Consulate General of Italy in Johannesburg and the Consulate of Italy in Cape Town will implement biometric system VIS for all visas. Applying for a visa will necessarily entail the physical presence of the applicant, for the collection of biometric data (fingerprinting and digitized photograph). All the required procedures will be implemented by Capago South Africa Ltd, the authorized agency  with branches in Pretoria, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
